IBEW Code of Excellence
Based on the simple principles of eight hours’ work for eight hours’ pay, professionalism and respect, the Code of Excellence was envisioned as a way to distinguish the quality of highly-trained IBEW workers from the work of their nonunion counterparts.
Since being unveiled in 2007, it has spread from construction to nearly every branch of the union and been attached to hundreds of high-profile projects across the U.S. and Canada.
The Code of Excellence outlines simple but powerful ways to strengthen our union. It empowers us to work better and improve communication with employers.
It means that our safety and professionalism make the IBEW an employer’s first choice.
When employers see the pride, safety, and quality in our work we can build better relationships.
When an employer agrees to the principles of the Code of Excellence, it creates an environment where employees and management work together towards common goals. It helps to reduce antagonistic working conditions and allows management and labor to discuss issues and work through potential stumbling blocks. It creates better management, it helps to alleviate workers concerns, and makes for a better workplace for all.
We come to work, ready to work. We follow safety regulations. We take pride in our work. We do the best job we can do, every day.
Best skills, highest quality of work, best work ethic. IBEW Code of Excellence.
