Term life vs whole life insurance: dollars you pay into term life insurance premiums are only there to provide a death benefit to your beneficiaries if you die during a specified term, while money you invest in whole life insurance premiums builds cash value that you can use later in life or that will add to the death benefit payout.

Disability insurance replaces a portion of employee income when they can't work because of an illness or injury. It provides wage replacement benefits that cover, on average, up to 60% of employee earnings. Those payments usually go up to a cap, or a maximum monthly payout. An employee receives long-term disability coverage for 5-10 years or as long as they are disabled until the age of 65 or normal retirement age.

Long-term care insurance helps cover the costs of that care when you have a chronic medical condition, a disability or a disorder such as Alzheimer’s disease. Most policies will reimburse you for care given in a variety of places, such as your home, a nursing home, an assisted living facility or an adult day care center.
